Poker Strategy - Overview
Poker as a game of skill and luck needs the players to use a good strategy when they want to be successfull. A basic strategic element is for example that you make good use of your position. Acting in position post-flop is a big advantage and good players know how to use this.
Our poker strategy section is organized like this:
- Limit Holdem Fullring Strategy
( you learn how to play in Limit Holdem games where 7 - 10 players are at the table ) - Limit Holdem 6-max Strategy
( you learn how to beat Limit Holdem games with 3 - 6 players. The game here is more aggressive and the variance is higher) - No-Limit Holdem Fullring Strategy
( we use the Big Stack strategy to dominate these tables) - No-Limit Holdem 6-max Strategy
( again the more aggressive variation of the game which is very popular at weaker players) - Sit&Go Tournament Strategy
( includes normal SNG's where 3 players are getting a price and Double or Nothing SNG's where 5 players are paid) - MultiTable Tournaments
( includes Freezout and Rebuy Tournament types and Satellites)
All our articles are supported by hand analysis articles where we examine real hands from online practice.

Dealt to SB

Preflop: (Pot: $0.75)
FOLD UTGFOLD CO
RAISE Button, to $1.50
CALL SB, $1.25
FOLD BB
Analysis:
BU makes a standard raise and the small blind is only calling.
We recommend to make a reraise here.
Flop: (Pot: $3.50)
CHECK SB
BET Button, $2.65
CALL SB, $2.65
Analysis:
The flop is good for SB with 2 overcards and an open ended straight draw.
Checking and calling seems ok.
Checking and calling seems ok.
Turn: (Pot: $8.80)
CHECK SB
BET Button, $6.35
CALL SB, $6.35
Analysis
SB makes his Straight and plays check/call. That's wrong. He must reraise the bet, for example to $18.
River: (Pot: $21.50)
CHECK SB
BET Button, $14.35
RAISE SB, to $39.75 and is ALL-IN
CALL Button, $25.40
Analysis:
Now he is doing the reraise. The problem is that the board has paired and Full Houses are possible.
Now he is doing the reraise. The problem is that the board has paired and Full Houses are possible.
Another problem is that Button with for example AK or AQ or a weaker ace maybe would not have bet.
We would have bet ourselves about $10 and on an Allin by button you can fold when BU is not a big fish or Maniac.
Showdown:
SHOWS SB
SHOWS Button
Button wins the pot of $99 with a full house, Aces full of Jacks
